AI Halloween costume trend: try a costume on video before you buy it
How to do this year’s Halloween costume reveal and couples costume trends with AI: pick a clip, add a photo of the costume, and see yourself wearing it.
Every October, two kinds of Halloween trend take over TikTok: the reveal (normal clothes, a cut, then the full costume) and the couples or group costume. Both are easy to copy with AI, and one is genuinely useful: you can see yourself in a costume on video before you spend money on it.
This year’s Halloween formats
- **Halloween costume reveal.** A before shot, a transition, then the costume. The classic.
- **Couples costume.** Two people, a matching idea. Works best when the pairing is instantly readable.
- **Pumpkin head fall fit.** The pumpkin-head photoshoot, now on video.
- **Ramalama costume walk.** A costumed walk timed to the song.
- **Halloween makeup.** Make-up transformations; harder for AI, see below.

How to do it with vtrends
- Pick the clip. Open one of the pages above and tap “Use this video”, or paste a TikTok link.
- Add your face. A clear front-facing photo, no sunglasses or filters.
- Add the costume as an outfit photo. A clear photo of the whole costume. For a reveal clip with a before and after, add your everyday outfit first and the costume second: the first outfit is used first and the next one at the outfit change.
- Add a location (optional). A photo of a party, a porch or a spooky street to replace the background.
- Render. About 10 to 15 minutes, with the original sound.
Trying costumes before you buy
Costume photos on shop pages are usually worn by a model in a studio. A short video of you walking or turning in it tells you more. Save the shop’s main photo of the costume and use it as the outfit photo. Try two or three costumes on the same clip and compare.
Be realistic about what this shows. The model interprets the costume from one photo, so fine details (print, buttons, exact colours) can drift, and it can’t tell you about fit or fabric. It is a good way to rule costumes out, not a fitting room.
What AI struggles with at Halloween
- Masks. A full mask hides the face the model needs. Half-masks and face paint in the original clip can confuse it too.
- Heavy make-up transformations. The swap regenerates your face, so a make-up reveal tends to come out as you without the make-up, or with a softened version.
- Big props and wings. Large accessories may change shape between frames.
- Dark scenes. Night-time party clips with flashing lights are harder than daylight ones.
Pick a clip that is bright and shows faces clearly and you avoid most of these. For more on outfits, read how to change clothes in a video with AI.
Questions
What is the AI Halloween trend?
There are two. One uses AI image tools to make Halloween portraits from a selfie. The other, which vtrends does, puts you into a Halloween TikTok clip, such as a costume reveal, wearing a costume from a photo.
Can I see myself in a costume before buying it?
Roughly, yes. Use the shop’s photo of the costume as the outfit photo. Details and fit won’t be exact, but it is enough to see whether the idea suits you.
Will it be ready by Halloween?
A video takes about 10 to 15 minutes to render once you have paid, so yes, even on the night.
